Preschool Ministry

The FBC Children’s Ministry theme is G2C or “Generations to Come”. Psalm 145:4 says “One generation shall commend your works to another. They will tell stories of your mighty acts.” This is the foundation of ministry here at FBC. It is our desire to reach children and families for the gospel of Christ and make an impact for “Generations to Come”. You won’t want to miss out on the fun and learning at FBC Russellville.

FBC PRESCHOOL & CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES

The mission of the FBC Children’s Ministry is to introduce individuals and families to Jesus Christ and then establish and equip them so that they might help others in the same way. Our core values are: (1) safety and security; (2) creativity; (3) community; (4) Biblical truth; and (5) a nurturing environment. Our Elementary Department emphasizes age-appropriate learning in a small group environment. Our Preschool Department desires that all preschool children begin the journey of knowing God and experience His love through a caring staff. Preschoolers are nurtured in an activity-oriented, Bible-based, child-centered learning environment.  Our ministry to children is facilitated through these activities: Sunday School, AWANA, Mother’s Day Out, Children’s Choirs, Vacation Bible School, and other special events.

PRESCHOOL MINISTRY

Our Preschool Ministry includes children birth through Pre-Kindergarten.  Our goal is to demonstrate God’s love to all children and to provide Biblical teaching in a loving and safe environment.  To find our Preschool Ministry, look for the covered drop-off zone which is located near the intersection of West 2nd Street and South Glenwood Avenue. Find the preschool playground and follow the covered walkway to the main entrance of our Preschool and Children’s area. The Preschool information desk will be to your left as you enter the door.  All Preschool rooms are located on the first floor of the West building.

Safety  and Security

Your child’s safety and security is of the utmost importance.  For this reason, we utilize security measures.  In our classes birth through age 2, each parent is given a numbered pager upon drop-off.  Should we need to reach you, your assigned pager will vibrate.  Parents and children will also receive a matching numbered security label.  Older preschoolers and their parents receive a matching numbered security label.  If you are needed during the service, your child’s security number will be displayed on the digital callboard at the front sides of the Worship Center.  Please note that security labels must be presented by a parent or guardian (age 16 years or older) before a teacher can release your child.

Good Health Guidelines

In order to prevent the spread of illness, we ask that you not bring your child if he or she has exhibited any of the following symptoms within the previous 24 hours:

Fever of 100 degrees or more

Sore throat and severe cold symptoms

Vomiting or diarrhea

Skin infections (ringworm, impetigo)

Any unexplained rash

Pink eye, RSV, Hand-foot-mouth disease

Other childhood diseases (chicken pox, measles, etc.)

Sunday School   (Sundays 9:30 a.m.)

During Sunday School, preschoolers begin to learn Biblical foundations that are important to their spiritual development.  We believe that even the youngest child can learn about God and His love for them.  Divided by age, our babies and toddlers receive lots of TLC while older preschoolers enjoy Bible stories, music, and lots of hands-on activities.  A child’s play is how they learn.  And if they’re not having fun, they’re probably not learning.

Extended Worship Care  (Sundays 10:50 a.m.)

Extended Worship Care is a cooperative effort between parents and volunteers that provide continued care and training during our 10:50 a.m. worship service.  Once every 6-7 weeks, parents of preschoolers and volunteers, assist during this hour reinforcing Bible truths taught during Sunday School.

Preschool Made for Praise Choir   (Sunday’s 5:00-6:00 PM during school year)

Three and 4-year olds look forward to Preschool Choir on Sunday evenings.   While parents enjoy Adult Classes (Body Builders), young children learn important music fundamentals and how to worship God through song.  Periodically, each graded choir will sing during a Worship service or seasonal performance.  In addition, childcare (birth through Pre-K) is provided by trained staff during our Sunday evening activities and evening service from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

AWANA Puggles and Cubbies   (Wednesday’s 6:00-7:30 PM during school year)

Wednesday evenings at FBC are always exciting and the Preschool Ministry is no exception.  Our 2-year-olds enjoy the new AWANA Puggles program designed especially for this age.  Three and 4-year-olds can be a part of the AWANA Cubbie program where God’s Word is planted in their hearts in a fun and kid-friendly way.  For security purposes, we ask that parents of Puggles and Cubbies remain on the church campus during this time.

Mother’s Day Out (Tuesday & Thursday 9:30 a.m.—2:30 p.m.)

Mother’s Day Out (MDO) is a ministry to both preschool children and mothers of preschool children. Mother’s Day Out offers children a variety of learning experiences — how to interact with others, a love for books, music, nature, art and physical fitness. And each of our classes has a Bible story each day.  Our MDO program begins in September and continues through the middle of May. Our Summer Session is on Tuesdays only during the months of June and July, except for the week we offer Vacation Bible School.  Questions about Mother’s Day Out? Please email our Mother’s Day Out director, Jamie Sykes, at jamie@fbcruss.org or visit the Mother’s Day Out page.
