FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

FOSTER AND ADOPTION MINISTRY

First Baptist Church is committed to loving and serving the vulnerable through the ministries of foster care, adoption, expectant mother advocacy and family crisis support.

We offer a variety of ways for First Baptist Church members to serve children and families right here in the River Valley and throughout the state.

First Baptist Church is honored to announce its partnership with the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries through Connected to Foster to create a unique and exciting opportunity for families who are interested in loving vulnerable children here in Arkansas through adoption and foster care.

FOSTER CARE

Families working with Connected to Foster, a ministry of Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries, will enjoy the unique blessing of working with our own case worker specific to First Baptist Church families. This means, NO caseworker turnover and a steady and consistent level of support for you as you walk out your calling in obedience to serving the vulnerable children of Arkansas through foster care.

ADOPTIVE AND FOSTER FAMILY SUPPORT AND TRAINING

Are you a current adoptive or foster family?

First Baptist Church offers ongoing opportunities to build community and receive trauma-informed training and support for families related to foster care and adoption both virtual and in person for every step of your journey.

RESPITE CARE

Respite care provides up to 72 hours of care for children in the foster care system. This ministry provides opportunities for rest, travel and additional training for families currently caring for foster placements in their home.

ADOPTION

Families interested in infant adoption through the state of Arkansas will experience personalized training, support and guidance throughout the process. Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries is proud to be a privately licensed adoption placement agency for residents living in the state.

  • Families who say yes to foster care or adoption through these programs pay absolutely nothing.
  • Families participating in the adoption program through Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home are asked to serve in temporary foster or respite care as a part of the missional model approach to orphan care.

Other opportunities for permanent adoption placement for children of all ages include a partnership with Project Zero.

ADOPT A FAMILY

Not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but we can all do something. Here at First Baptist Church, we want to wrap our arms around the vulnerable and those who have answered the call to foster and adopt. If you have a heart to serve foster and adoptive families, you can be an integral part of the personalized support we offer through this ministry.

Ways to support our families will include:

  • Prayer team
  • Meals for families receiving placements
  • Emergent needs for foster parents
  • Become a Respite family
  • Involvement in community building activities throughout the year

EXPECTANT MOTHER ADVOCACY

At First Baptist Church we want to care for every family member affected by foster care and adoption. Through our partnership with ABCH, First Baptist Church is honored to provide advocacy for expectant mothers and mothers working to reunify with their children. We are able to do this through our partnership with Desired Haven, an organization providing support, counseling and advocacy for birth moms in crisis.
